What is an imaged check?
An imaged check is a laser copy of the front of your canceled check. The images will appear in numeric order with twelve images on a page. Imaged checks will make it easier to balance and store your statements. The original paper canceled checks will no longer be returned to you.

What is the reason for the change?
Image statements improve security by reducing the amount of paper with your personal information, thus reducing the chances that this information will fall into the wrong hands. Checkbook balancing and record keeping will also be easier by having your checks on single sheets for more convenient account maintenance and storage.

Can I still receive my original paper canceled checks?
TCF will keep a permanent record of your canceled checks, front and back. Copies can be obtained by phoning Customer Service. Your original canceled paper checks will no longer be returned to you.

Will I be charged for the check images provided with my statement?
No, in addition to being easy and convenient, it is also free!

Important Information About Your Account Contract
Instead of returning your paid checks, TCF will provide the check number, amount, and date of payment in your periodic Statement of Account. TCF copies (by means of microfilm, check imaging, or production) the front and back of each check processed and paid against your account. TCF may elect, in its discretion, to provide you with check images of the front of your paid checks with your periodic statements (or online if you participate in Online Banking). TCF will retain copies of your checks for 7 years from the date the checks are charged to your account. As soon as TCF copies the check, TCF may destroy the original check. You can order a copy of the canceled check by phoning TCF and providing TCF with sufficient information to identify the check. TCF may charge you for these copies according to TCF's current Deposit Account Services and Prices schedule, which TCF may change from time to time. You agree that check images, provided with your periodic statement, or the availability of copies of checks and the description of the posting date, item number and amount of each paid item that TCF includes with your periodic Statement of Account, is sufficient for you to determine if unauthorized signatures or alterations have occurred.
